NearbyGrid Text Updates

Transactional updates for events and groups you care about. NearbyGrid Text Updates let event and group organizers send you SMS notifications about events and groups you have joined, such as a time or location change, a reminder, or a cancellation. This is an opt-in program: you only receive texts for the specific groups and events you choose.

NearbyGrid sends transactional updates only (event changes, reminders, cancellations). We do not send marketing or promotional messages by text.

Who can receive messages

Only people who opt in. You opt in per group or per event, after verifying your own mobile number. You are never added automatically. Organizers can only text people who are approved members of their group (or who joined their event) and who have turned text updates on.

Message types and frequency

Messages are event and group notifications: schedule or location changes, reminders, and cancellations. Expect roughly 1 to 4 messages per event or group update. Message and data rates may apply.

How to opt in

There are two ways to opt in, both explicit:

In the NearbyGrid app or website: open a group you belong to, verify your mobile number with a one-time code, then turn on "Get text updates for [Group name]". Each group has its own toggle, so your consent is specific to that group.
On a public event page: enter your name and mobile number and confirm a one-time code. The form states: "Get a text if the time or place changes. About 1 to 4 messages per event. Reply STOP anytime. Message and data rates may apply."

Each toggle is its own opt-in for that one group or event. There is no "subscribe to everything" option; you choose each one.

How to opt out

You can opt out at any time:

Reply STOP to any text message to stop all NearbyGrid text updates.
Or turn the text-updates toggle off for any group in the app or website.

Keywords and replies

Our automated replies to standard keywords:

STOP (also STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT): "You are unsubscribed from NearbyGrid text updates. Reply START to opt back in."
START: "You are subscribed to NearbyGrid text updates again. Reply STOP to opt out."
HELP: "NearbyGrid event/group updates. Reply STOP to opt out. Help: [email protected]"

Privacy

Your mobile number is used only to send the text updates you opted in to. We do not sell it or share it for third-party marketing. See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
