Community Guidelines

Effective date: July 16, 2026

NearbyGrid is for adults 18 and older to meet nearby people through real-world plans: events, groups, friends, and dating for those who want it. These guidelines keep it welcoming and safe. Breaking them can get content removed and accounts suspended or banned.

Prohibited activities (zero tolerance)

Anyone under 18, or any content depicting a minor. Child sexual abuse material (reported to NCMEC and law enforcement). Nonconsensual or hidden recording, and nonconsensual intimate imagery, including deepfakes. Prostitution, escorting, compensated dating, sugar arrangements, or any commercial sex. Explicit or sexual content in public or shared spaces (profiles, group covers, events, broadcasts). Selling, buying, or charging to unlock another person's content. Harassment, hate, threats, or violence. Scams, spam, bots, scraping, or impersonation. Any illegal activity.

Be 18 or older

NearbyGrid is adults only. No one under 18 may use it. We remove suspected minors immediately and report child sexual abuse material to NCMEC and law enforcement. There is zero tolerance for any sexual content involving minors.

Be real and be yourself

Use your own photos. No impersonation, no fake profiles, no AI-generated images of other people ("deepfakes"). One account per person.

Treat people with respect

No harassment, stalking, bullying, hate speech, discrimination, threats, intimidation, or violence. No doxxing or sharing other people's private information, and no outing anyone's sexual orientation, gender identity, or health status. No sextortion, blackmail, or threats to expose someone's intimate images, private messages, or identity. Treat our staff and moderators with the same respect. These standards apply to how you treat other members both on and off NearbyGrid. Take "no" for an answer.

Consent is required

Only share intimate images of yourself, and only with people who want them. Never share images of another person without their explicit, enthusiastic consent. Unlocking someone's private album gives you permission to view it — not to screenshot, save, record, or re-share it. Do not capture, save, or re-share private content others share with you. Do not send unsolicited sexual messages, photos, or content anywhere on NearbyGrid — including chats, profile prompts, and group or event posts. Consent can be withdrawn at any time, and you can revoke access to your private photos whenever you like.

No explicit or age-gated content in public or broadcast spaces

NearbyGrid prohibits sexual, explicit, nude, pornographic, or other age-gated content on public or broadcast surfaces. This includes profile information and public photos, group and event names, descriptions, "how to find us" details, covers, announcements, group/event chat messages, and text updates. Consensual adult content in a private album or one-to-one chat is covered by the consent rules above.

The app is 18 or older only, but all shared or publicly visible content must remain appropriate for a general adult audience. Hosts who send text updates or announcements must keep them transactional and relevant to the event or group, with no explicit, age-gated, promotional, or third-party content.

We automatically check uploaded public images and broadcast content and use narrow high-confidence bot/spam detection on new cold direct messages. Ordinary direct, group, and event messages are not read or AI-reviewed before they are sent. We review items people submit through Report and reserve the right to remove violations. Repeated or serious violations may result in suspension or termination.

Photo rules

Every public profile, group, or event photo is checked before it can appear. Use a genuine photo of yourself or of everyday life (selfies, body shots, scenery, pets, travel are all fine). Private-album photos publish without routine approval and instead include a Report control; narrow high-confidence checks for illegal exploitation still apply. We will not approve a public photo that shows:

  • Anyone who is not clearly an adult. Children, teens, and childhood photos are never allowed, even when an adult is also in the photo. If age is unclear, the photo is declined.
  • Nudity, exposed genitals or female nipples, sex acts, or other explicit or pornographic content.
  • Bodily fluids or blood and gore.
  • Violence or threats toward people or animals, or death imagery.
  • Firearms or weapons displayed prominently.
  • Illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, or cannabis. Alcohol and tobacco for adults are allowed.
  • Hate symbols, gang imagery, or discriminatory content.
  • Harm or cruelty to animals.
  • Graphic injuries, wounds, or medical or accident imagery.
  • Sex work, escort or rate ads, paid promotion, spam, money or investment solicitation, or follower farming.
  • Images whose main point is advertising or contact info: ads, flyers, memes, screenshots, phone numbers, emails, handles, links, or QR codes. Everyday photos that simply happen to include some text are fine.
  • Personal information shown on purpose, like a home address, a readable license plate, or an ID.
  • Celebrities, stock images, or AI generated faces, or anyone who is not you.
  • Self harm or suicide imagery.

If a photo is declined you will get a notification explaining why. Repeated violations can lead to account review, suspension, or a ban. If you think a photo was declined by mistake, contact us at nearbygrid.com/contact.

No commercial or illegal activity

No prostitution, escorting, compensated dating, sugar arrangements ("sugar daddy/baby"), findom, "pay to play," or any commercial sex — including coded or indirect solicitation. No soliciting or sending money, and do not post banking, payment-app, or peer-to-peer payment details on your profile. No buying, selling, advertising, fundraising, MLM, spam, scams, scraping, or bots. Registered sex offenders may not use NearbyGrid.

Report and block

If someone breaks these rules, use Report and Block — right inside the app, without leaving it. You can report any profile, message, photo, group, or event, and block anyone so you no longer see each other. Reports are confidential and we do not tolerate retaliation for good-faith reports, and you can still report someone after you block or unmatch them. We act on reports of objectionable content and abusive users promptly — within 24 hours for serious violations — including removing content and suspending or permanently banning accounts. Knowingly false or abusive reports may themselves result in enforcement.

Content compliance

NearbyGrid is an adults-only platform and we take content compliance seriously:

  • Everyone is 18+. All users, and every person depicted in any content on NearbyGrid, must be 18 or older. Accounts are age-gated (18+ with date of birth) and may be subject to AI age-estimation selfie age assurance.
  • Public spaces are non-explicit. Profile photos, bios, group covers, events, and any other shared or broadcast space must be safe for work and must be of you.
  • Intimate content is private, self-only, and consensual. Any nude or intimate images may be shared only by the person depicted, of themselves, and only through private, grant-based access that you approve and can revoke at any time. Sharing an image of another person requires their explicit consent. We never sell content and never charge to unlock a specific person's images.
  • Zero tolerance for illegal content. We use detection tooling, automated and human moderation, remove violating content, terminate offending accounts, report child sexual abuse material to NCMEC and law enforcement, and remove nonconsensual intimate imagery (including deepfakes) consistent with the TAKE IT DOWN Act. See our Child Safety and Privacy Policy pages.
  • No commercial sex. No prostitution, escorting, compensated dating, or commercial sexual services.

To report content, use Report and Block in the app, or email [email protected].

Events, guest lists, and waitlists

Event and group hosts choose who can see the guest or member list: everyone can preview it, only people who have joined can see it, or it stays private so only the host sees who is attending. Events and groups with sensitive topics default to the private setting. Guest lists always use your event display name and event photo, never your dating profile.

When an event fills up and has a waitlist, NearbyGrid Plus and NearbyGrid Unlimited members receive priority on that waitlist, and hosts can turn this off to run a plain first-come waitlist instead. Paid plans never affect who you are matched with or your placement in discovery.
